CBD Infused Avocado Toast
Looking for a healthy and delicious way to start your day? Want include your daily dose of CBD? Then try whipping up this CBD infused avocado toast.
Avocados are nutrient dense, contain healthy mono-unsaturated (heart healthy) fats and contains 20 different vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients. One third of an avocado can also provide you with dietary fiber. Add in some whole grain bread and some healthy toppings and your avocado toast can become a healthy power packed meal that will keep you full all morning.
A bonus to this delicious meal is the fact that you can easily infuse it with your favorite CBD oil.
Not only can you enjoy a health breakfast but you can get in a dose of CBD oil to boost your health. Personally I take CBD oil to help ease arthritis pain and stiffness. I know many others who take it to help them feel more relaxed and reduce their stress levels. Whatever your reason for using CBD oil this delicious meal is a great way to incorporate CBD into your lifestyle.
One of my favorite CBD oils to use comes from CBDistillery. They carry a variety of CBD products including tinctures, oils, isolates, topicals, vape products and even products for your pets. The thing I love about this company is their products are made from Non-GMO hemp plants and are pesticide free. This is super important as the hemp plant will readily take up soil containments so you always want to purchase a CBD product that has been tested for pesticides, heavy metals, etc.
Bonus points in my book for the light green/herbal flavor. Unlike other products that I’ve tried the flavor is very mild and can easily be added to any type of food product without over powering the taste. It’s also mild enough to put the drops directly under your tongue without leaving a gross taste in your mouth.
This is the exact CBD oil from the CBDistillery that I use: CBDrop Full Spectrum Oil 1,000 mg per bottle. It’s concentrated enough that it only takes several drops to take my dose. I currently use 20 mg doses three times a day. This equals 6 to 7 drops per dose. It’s a small enough amount of liquid that I can put it under my tongue or simply add it to the food that I’m eating.
CBDistillery carries several other dosage strengths including 250 mg, 500 mg, 2,500 mg and 5,000 mg.
To create your CBD infused avocado toast start by mashing up an avocado. This will make enough mashed avocado to generously cover three slices of toast. Based on a 20 mg CBD dose I would then add 18 to 21 drops of CBD oil (based on 1,000 mg bottle) and mix it in well. This would give me three servings with about 20 mg of CBD oil.
Add in a teaspoon of lemon juice to keep the avocado from turning brown and a bit of salt and pepper.
Spread the mashed avocado on your toasted bread and top with your favorite type of eggs.
Avocado toast is super simple to make. Here are some tips for creating delicious avocado toast every time.
Start by picking great avocados.
You want ripe but not over-ripe avocados. When picking avocados give them a little squeeze. They should yield a little but not be really soft. The best way to find out if your avocado is not over ripe is to remove the little bit of stem and look at the color beneath it. If it’s brown then that avocado is over ripe and there’s a good chance you will find that it is becoming brown inside. If you remove the stem and the color beneath it is light green then you have an avocado that is not too ripe. Check out the pictures below to see what I mean:
Buy a sturdy bread and toast it
Look for a thick cut bread or a multi grain bread. You want something that will be crunchy and chewy. The firm texture goes well with the creamy avocado. And provides a good base to hold any additional toppings you may add.
Mash your avocado before putting it on the bread
Avoid trying to mash the avocado on the toast. That’s a sure way to poke a hole through it. Mashing it before it goes on the toast also allows you to season it with a bit of salt and pepper. Perhaps even a dash of hot sauce if you desire. Cut the avocado in half, remove the pit and scoop out the insides. Mash to your desired consistency. Some people like it creamy smooth and others like to leave some chunky bits behind.
Now that you’ve prepped your avocado spread it on your toasted bread, sprinkle on a bit of shredded cheese if desired and top with your favorite form of eggs. Sprinkle with a bit of salt and pepper. Try a pinch of crushed red pepper for a little kick and you are ready to dig in!
Here’s a few ways to take your avocado toast to a whole new level.
Add garlic: mix a tiny bit of garlic powder into your mashed avocado or even 1/2 a teaspoon of minced fresh garlic.
Add herbs: mix in a teaspoon of freshly chopped cilantro, dill, basil or parsley.
Mix in a teaspoon of your favorite pesto sauce.
Add some finely diced jalapeno.
Top your avocado with thinly sliced tomato and a drizzle of balsamic vinegar.
Sprinkle some sunflower or pumpkin seeds on top for a bit of crunch.
